can you make a website or something so i can let the game run in the background without it hibernating? i want to advance the sectors in the background

If it were on a different website it would still hibernate. You could use the download though.

i use opera gx can i do it in chromium or is the trick firefox only?

This is one of the most balanced and aesthetically pleasing games I have ever played. Thank you very much for doing it.

Most of the time I have no idea of the overall mechanics. But a few days in I see what has to be done. (This is a compliment. I play for distraction). 

Oh I'm glad you think it's aesthetically pleasing!  I personally like the color scheme etc, but was afraid it might be a bit too different.

AI info says we can purchase AI points but it's not clear how/where this can be done. If that's actually implemented you might provide clarity on this point.

It is not yet.  I will be adding that in shortly before getting this on steam, sometime after the next content patch.  Should probably remove that text for now...

Here's a snippet of the Core Computing challenge thing I was talking about.  I wonder if I activated the challenge the moment sector 24 boss was killed? As you can see the game thinks I've cleared up to sector 24, but my challenge target is only 19. 

Is 35/40 shards the max? I can't see what I'm missing if not.

I just had the weirdest thing happen that I'm not sure how to properly replicate it as I wasn't paying attention. I'll write down what happened to the best I can.


I had just finished Synth Purity Challenge 4/4, reset to do Base Carry 3/6, finished that, went afk for a few minutes, changed the ship weapons and shields around, started Core Computing 7/9 (I was at 6/9 completed), and it immediately completed just as the prestige reset was happening. I was at 6/9, started the challenge with a reset, now at 7/9 at Sector 1.

Odd, I tried to recreate it and failed, but ill keep an eye out.

I wish I could be of more help, but I was not paying attention to what exactly I did / where I was that could have caused it. I hope others can help more on the matter if it does happen again.

could you share your weapon loadouts and tips for this challenges? Cause I'm somewhat stuck. I have a full warptree for a 0.30v and currently at sector 52

Can I get a short summary as to what each base building does during the challenge? I feel like I'm understanding it but I'm having issues completing the 4th level of the base challenge.

materials give a shield multiplier

components a damage multiplier

parts a multiplier multiplier (battle multiplier)

boosts boost and a penalty

drain reduce reduces the penalty

having trouble? I went glass cannon: for base carry I went base1 optimized for damage base2 optimized for battle mult base 3 max penalty reduction + battle mult. trusting outranging the enemies + 2 deflectors to do the trick, which worked for me till 4/6 after which I just didn't have enough damage output.

That's where I'm stuck, I can get to the boss of sector 14 but not past it, and I can't seem to squeeze any more DPS out unless I'm missing something. I'll give your method a shot and see if it makes anything click, thanks!

it will be very difficult to beat base challenge for 4.  that's meant for when you get the 4th base Basically. I had to leave in the extras due to a technical issue So it's a little misleading that they existed all really.

if you're playing on the download version then yes.   No auto updates etc.


End game is popping the stand alone on steam which will handle updates for me :p

Does autocollectors impact offline gains? (Salvage / Void)

the salvage auto collector does. The void does not.  you can find a button in the settings to join discord

I got everything done except for base carry challenge and maxing out warp drive's battle improvement mk3

I don't think that will improve my base carry challenge odds. And only the third station is improving at a rate that's only hours per building level.

I’m at a similar point. But am also missing Core Computing 8 & 9. Did you complete them before the rebalance? I have ~2e6 compute component bonus from Base2 and am far away from finishing CC8. I used max-1 weapons and can upgrade them to level 110. I can’t see a way to progress significantly further…

Also base carry seems to be partially broken. I usually have boosts in a checkerboard pattern. When I for example have a battle mult bossted by 3 and one boosted by 2 boosters. If I change the one bossted by 2 to a battle/shield building, the boost will increase although it should have been lowered. This is not a penalty issue. The penalty doesn’t change.

I completed almost everything before the rebalances, my base2 is lower. I think your issue may be weapon choice, don't be afraid to retrofit to other weapons nor forget to use your reactor.

And now my base improvements are in the realm of years for 1&2.

For core computing 8 you'll need to be able to basically max the 2.0 weapons.  9 is "possible" at the moment but is not actually realistically doable as there's just not quite enough compute power/speed in the game at the moment to achieve it in a reasonable amount of time.

I just finished CC8 by abusing supportive routing and having 9x Improved tracking. Is it possible to get >10x in the challenge?

yeah improved tracking will scale forever just at a reduced rate. So you could theoretically sit there and farm it for a couple of days and get another completion done probably.

To better phrase the question: Is the softlimit 10x or is it 100x because of the challenge? It scaled quite a bit faster then usual, maybe 10x faster.

Does the Void Beacon work offline / affect offline gains? 

PS: Love the game, will be donating when I can, one of the best idle games that has kept me entertained.

it does not work offline. The offline calculations aren't sophisticated enough to determine how quickly you would clear a wave and spawn the next et cetera.

Also, really like the synergy changes, it lets me have a (very not optimal but fun) full suite of missile launcher spam XD

yeah I think I might end up tweaking it a little bit in the in the future, but these are much more fun than the plain old damage buffs

An option to set Reactor consumption based on VM per second would be cool

I don't know about your intentions, but I do slightly wish that the bonus deflector would only trigger based on the trigger settings, and not on any incoming damage. 

the bonus proc is meant to solely provide general damage production.  Basically is this the way to get a benefit from the deflector defensively other than deflecting the huge shots .

The spawn next wave module can cause two bosses to spawn at the same time.

it's making me wonder, what map would be the best to farm 'improved targeting' and 'ablative shielding'? of course with the next wave module.

waves everywhere spawn fully within 5 seconds max.  so the only variable is how quickly they get in your range and if you can 1shot them.  so just any mostly small enemy section that you can insta clear is good

Do lower level void shards matter at all?

since I'm running out of space with the two from area 42.

Nope, they are direct upgrades on lower-tier shards and you can't double slot the same shard. Once you obtain a higher-tier shard you can dump the lower tier. Shards of the same type and tier can be combined to increase the resonance level.

I don't think the Deflector Shields settings are working, no matter what I set it to, it will only block an attack if that attack would kill me. Now, that's not bad, and maybe should be a setting, but I've got it set to block anything above 50% max shield, and i'm taking a hit from a Hull Big Weapon enemy on zone 45A that is doing about 90% of my shield in one hit. The deflector blocks the second one while my shield is still recharging, but it shows that they listed settings are not what is happening.

there is a bug reported related to this. It seems to work some of the time and then stop working for people.

Do you recall if it was working at all for you at some point?

I think you may have messed up a bit on your balancing of the Continuous Generator. The output maxing is just superior now, as it increases actual shield regen by 5x than without, while condensed sheilds increases it by 1.3x, so you may want to re-look at those numbers.

Bug: Compute challenge - Cannot move forward after retreat from loosing shields without reloading the game. 

Also should the first compute challenge take so long (started since the first update and still on it) for a sector 34+ person to just do the first completion?

I don't get that behavior.  So There must be something a bit more specific about what's happening.

as for completing it yes you should be able to complete a couple probably. I don't want to put the solution right here in the comments. but consider the implications of the multiplier bonus :p

Hmm, It tried another challenge (synth) and I got the same thing with the retreat. I decided to cancel that and spend some time in normal then retry the other challenges and was able to retreat without restart.

As for the Compute challenge, I wonder if it is because I am missing the warp/compute multiplier. All the other ones i have active including the module and pink devices so I am not sure yet

it seemed to actually be related to the timing of dying, but just worked out that way very easily in challenges.  it should be fixed

shields are set to max void power during power challenge instead of current void power.

synth starting materials still definitely are there for the synth challenge right now. it extremely trivializes it, though i would have3 been able to do most of it anyhow.

Suggestions?

Later weapon types have additional abilities  that can help with targeting.

Ex.

-Bomb launcher has aoe effect that can maybe be upgraded in research or Warp

-Charge shot can hit multiple enemies in a line or can "arc" to another enemy.

-More upgrades to firerate for weapons and/or "time accelerator" in Reactor that can speed up the waves for energy cost.

I like the arc idea. And the waves wave speed up thing is actually something that went in this most recent patch but it's a module

Some additional effects including the ones above : 

Railgun effect that passes through enemies in a straight line

Arc - Arc to 1 or multiple targets

Aoe - Just a small aoe explosion on hit

Radiation  field- leaves an area that does DOT damage

I've had some rounding errors where, EG: My blue upgrade for base 1 will display a price of 10e22 instead of 1e23

Would be nice if it loaded the cloud save, if there's an account logged in, before loading the local save, i almost lost a day of progress because i play from two different pcs

the game is too big screen-wise. trying to play as a visually impaired person and everything is TINY of i try to fir it into the screen dimensions

Dang, That ship has partially sailed due to my terrible UI design the skills I think.  is it even the bigger text is difficult to read? or just all of "normal" Sized text?

Definitely my favorite idle game so far. Cannot wait for even more features. This scratches and itch that most idle games don't seem to have which is everything you do affects the "main" gameplay (ship/battle area)

I hope there are a ton more ship types planned like Battlecruisers, Battleships, Dreadnought and Carriers. Maybe different hardpoints sizes and weapon sizes?

Yup, those things are a coming!  Thanks for the feedback.

I would add that some shards need a balance pass for stacking.

Example - The Research shard can stack Observation and Energy with the Flex Shard but you cannot do that with Material as they are they are both Red. Not sure if intended, but odd for Material to get singled out to not get the stacking benefits.


Also, V device needs loadouts. I am sector 28 so I am not sure if it ever get them.

For the loadout part. do you just mean a loadout for itself alone? the load outs up up top effect the V device.

For the V Device itself... Basically Shard Loadouts so we can quickly swap to research, or attack, or salvage loadouts.

I've been having quite a bit of fun with this! However, I've run into an annoyance with the warp system. If I close the game (browser on itch.io) while a warp is open, then the next time I open the game, my warp core will be used up but I won't have received the warp essence reward. I keep forgetting to click "close warp" before I close the game itself. Is it possible to make the game give the reward next time the game is opened?

Oh, so you dont close it and dont trigger the rewards.  That makes sense.  Ill work on a way to handle that.  Might be a bit though so try to remember for now :p

Thanks for looking into it! The warps are a fun mechanic, I'm just forgetful, so I'll try my best to close it before I close the game.

Is there an "impossible" difficulty spike at the end of the available content to prevent going into undefined territory? The difference between 40 and 40.5 seems utterly staggering, but it lines up with "content available up to 6200".

yes that sector scales impossibly. So the 40.5 warp won't be doable either.  That scaling will be put in line with the other sectors in the next content update in a week or so here

An upgrade to Synth that lets you queue things better would be cool. Like split Synth 1 and 2 from 3 and 4 so I can have 1 and 2 Smart Synthing Circuitry and 3 and 4 Smart Synthing Focusers without 1 and 2 taking all of the Alloy since Circuitry is cheaper and preventing 3 and 4 from ever making any Focusers.

Click the version number button near  the top for a at least partially complete list.

Kinda annoying that for some reason the game is constantly telling me that there's an update and I should save and refresh...when I did so  not even five minutes ago.

A lot of this is great, but base building fundamentally doesn't work as a prestige mechanic because your reward isn't based on the content that gets reset, its progress is almost entirely independent of the main game.

Also you can cheese a lot of things by toggling core upgrade option things. Like switching to active ability duration/cooldown, activating active ability, then switching back to the passive boost. Or switching the beam from ramp up to power if it's already targeting something.

this is definitely a low prestige frequency game. The base is just to give you some reason to prestige sometimes especially especially once you have retrofits to use.  I agree that it's a bit disconnected however.

As for the cheese stuff, toggling the core options and modules to eek more power out is entirely intentional.  being able to "pro gamer" it a bit to kill a boss slightly sooner is cool imo.

Great so far.  Tried setting up a cloud save and it claims the account already exists, which I feel is unlikely.  Could you check cloud account "vaxhax" ?  Maybe it got corrupted at create time. thanks!

there's a bug in the current version that screws this up.  I can fix it for you if you give me your Player ID in the bottom left of the settings screen, its just a random ID so you can post it here no worries.

Really enjoying the game so far. I haven't reached the Warp stage of the game yet, so I'm not sure if this is one of the upgrades, but I would really like to be able to stack shields rather than split damage between them. That would open up some configurations like using a Bulk generator behind a Continuous generator so that minor damage doesn't reset the regen delay on the bulk generator.

I could see it being an option like the "targeting" options for weapons, but you select `Layer: Outer/Inner` to designate which shields would take damage first.

This seems like it would be a good feature to add as a module, that way you have to tie up a module slot in order to take advantage of it.

I particularly love the tooltips on various stats and multipliers, and I wish more idle games did this.  Understanding the math that goes into each feature makes a huge difference in my ability to optimize and my overall satisfaction.  Great work Sylv!

For the Unbound Research, some sort of progress indicator to go up to the next tier would be cool, like how long/how many points needed to go from 1x to 2x, etc

The most recent version that I just updated too broke the update all button for the core upgrades. It is now able to buy an upgrade for all the cores even if you don't have the scrap to pay for any of them.

Thats fixed.  If you're still on that version feel free to have fun I suppose Just be careful with making the number go too high that it screws up your save.
